Crashing and going back to Roku screen

Since an update, I think, last night. No matter what channel I am on, Roku will randomly crash and go back to the Roku screen. It will remain on this screen until I turn off my TB for a few minutes. Then I can finally get back to the home screen. This happens several times since last night.

  • I fixed mine by plugging it directly into the wall. It was previously plugged into a six pack type of plug. It's been working fine since then.

Yeah it seems like they’re fairly finicky with power source.

  • Have you purchased the new pokemon games for nintendo switch by chance? Apparently there's a signal issue that it affecting roku players unless the game is played in airplane mode

This is happening with mine too. I don’t own a switch but from what I’m seeing, the game is sending out signals and the TVs are picking up the signals. Since the tv isn’t meant to pick up the signal and doesn’t know what to do with it, it crashes

  • I had the same problem and found a fix. I just checked it just now to see if it worked or not and it did. Go to Settings, then System, then Control other devices and UNCHECK 1-touch play. For some reason this does it. I have a Smart Soundbar connected to a dumb LG TV. Hope this helps.

  • One thing that worked for me (factory reset wasn’t an option) was just bringing the TV near the router. I did that originally with the intent of setting up a hard connection, but physical proximity seems to have worked. 2 months later and no issues.

  • My Roku Stick crashes every time I try to open Netflix.  In addition it crashes on multiple shows in Britbox.

    Roku is full patched.
