Channel audio is in Spanish despite settings all being set to English

I have a family member whose Newsmax channel has changed the audio to Spanish.  All settings that we could find are set to English.  The rest of the Roku is fine.  We already tried logging out and deleting and re-adding the app to try to reset with no luck.  I saw several posts like this but no clear solutions.

    Newsmax live episodes just started playing in Spanish.  I didn’t change any settings. And it only affects the current live show.  I’ve made sure every menu option is for English.  I also deleted and re-installed the app.  None of these things work.  Any suggestions as to what to do? I’d like to have them in English.

      I can't change it. I did the same and reinstalled and no change.

      Same here! I thought I accidentally hit something. They were having connection issues this morning.

        I emailed the Newsmax customer service email I used when I paid them directly.  It is customerservice at (Roku forbade the Addie) Newsmax dot com

      It's working fine in English on my tablet but the TV is still in Spanish. I don't have Roku. I have Starlink. But this was the only post I could find online. It's not us, tho. Reinstalling won't help

    I am having the same problem with my mom’s newsmax. All other apps/shows are in English except newsmax!  Any help would be appreciated. We deleted the app and added back on with no success.

      Same here. I sent them an email and a complaint. Hopefully someone wakes up at Newsmax and fixes this. You can access the previous days shows and they are in English. It is just the live broadcast. I have done the same. Deleted the app, checked settings so it has to be on their end, esp since it is happening to lots of us.

    This could be part of the problem:

    Starting with Spanish, SyncWords is dubbing and subtitling Newsmax's 24/7 news channel from English to local languages using an advanced AI platform following successful trials earlier this summer.

      I read about that but there should be an option to keep it in English. We are close to the border in Arizona…maybe that is the issue as well?

        Happening on 3 devices in my phoenix home. 2 Roku and a fire stick. It is European Spanish and my wife says it’s not even about what’s playing on Newsmax. This is about the 3rd or 4th time. Has to be someone hacking the Newsmax broadcast on the internet. Isn’t happening on the telephone app.

      I think you're right. AI is the cause of Newsmax having a Spanish translator take over the audio. They need to remove all the AI SyncWord. What were they thinking? How about 'If it ain't broke don't fix it'.

        +18004854350 is the customer service number for Newsmax.  I left a message and emailed them at customerservice at Newsmax dot com (Roku won't allow email addresses)

    Is this the standalone Newsmax channel/app or were they watching Newsmax2 on one of the LiveTV offerings on a channel/app?

    I don't see any Audio Settings at all in the Newsmax standalone channel/app and the only audio track available via Roku is English for the standalone and the Roku Channel Newsmax2 feed.(ch190).

      It’s the standalone app…maybe it is a newsmax issue? We are in southern Arizona.

        It's happening in California as well. It's the NewsMax app itself. Not just Roku but also Amazon Fire TV and the phone app. It does work just fine if you pull it up on your web browser and login. I tried to call NewsMax but they're closed until 8:30 am Eastern time. I also emailed them last night, no answer.

      I am having the same problem...suddenly tonight. Went thru every option on my Roku/Hisense tv and there is nothing. Dont have an SAP and all audio options are set to English.

    Same thing happened to us also. Reset to factory and that didn’t work. I did notice a small number one next to the Newsmax logo after pushing enter. Newsmax is in English while watching the same show on iPad.🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

    Same... Both Roku app and android app both in Spanish. I live in Southern AZ. Very strange. Guess it's OANN tonight. Never Fox. 😉

    I'm having the same issue on my Samsung smart tv. It's not just an issue with Roku devices! I'm not happy, especially since I have to pay for Newsmax+

      Please see other posts. Newsmax admitted it was a problem at their end and have fixed it.

    I am having the same issue with NewsMax. It's not just Roku, it's also having the same issue on my phone app and Amazon Fire TV. I can pull up my Newsmax on the internet and it works just fine. I believe it's just the phone app, Roku NewsMax app and the Fire TV app. I tried to get hold of NewsMax but they're closed right now. If you want to watch it right now, pull it up on your phone browser and stream it to your TV. Sucks that this is happening. We pay for the NewsMax account.
