Are most 4K titles on Hulu not in 4K for YOU ALSO?

Most titles that say they’re 4K are not streaming in 4K they are streaming in HD, what is going on?

For example and I have dozens of examples the movie “I’m totally fine“ says it’s in 4K and it is, but the movie “sleeping dogs“ says it’s in 4K and it is not.

I can list a dozen or two dozen more that say 4K but are not.

I have a model 4802X – Roku extra  with software version 14.1

  • Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention, randys. If the issue is limited to this channel, as JWS9518 mentioned, we recommend contacting Hulu directly.

They can assist you further and provide clarification on this matter, as the channel provider independently develops and maintains their app on the Roku streaming platform.

    We appreciate your cooperation!

That might be a question to ask Hulu customer support.

Sure, good idea, but what I’m asking here but I didn’t do it right is if other people tell me they are having the same experience so I know it’s not just my equipment even though it’s on all of my devices.

Could you check those titles for me on your devices and tell me what it shows when you play it and then you look to see whether it says 4K or HD?

You are not alone. I also experience this Hulu inconsistent 4K titles issue. And for me this also includes specific 5.1-HDR/Dolby Vision badging content titles that can be inconsistent across all program's seasons and episodes as well. When a program series badging indicates as being in 4K not all episodes within the series will playback consistently in 4K and some episodes will only playback in HD. I use the Roku Ultra 4850X that is HDMI connected to the LG C1 TV and a HDMI connected Yanaha A/V receiver all of which will accept and playback "5.1-HD-4K-HDR/Dolby Vision" content especially when a specific program series or movie details page badge indicates as having these specific A/V playback qualities. I have experienced the most A/V inconsistent content related issues with Hulu than any other "PIAD" streaming service. For me the Hulu complaint resolution process has always been inadequate and ineffective with reporting and resolving issues. Hulu Support backend teams always assign blame to my Roku device as having incorrect settings and/or internet network connection instability as being the root cause of the Hulu service-related issues. These are Hulu server-side specific content related issues and not device and/or internet network connection issues.
