Apps keeps crashing and returning to Home screen

Just bought a Roku Express, whenever I intend watching Netflix or several other apps, the app crashes within 3 minutes and return back to the Roku home interface.

I have also done several troubleshooting, as instructed by Roku on the community discussion, the problem still persist.

I carried out the following action below  but issue still continues.

  1. Remove the channel: Highlight the channel tile on your home screen and press the Star button to open the options menu. Select Remove channel and confirm.
    • Note: If you remove a subscription channel billed to your Roku account, you must cancel the subscription before seeing the Remove Channel option. For help identifying this type of subscription channel, read the detailed article about removing a channel.
  2. Restart your Roku device: If reaching the power cord to unplug your Roku device is inconvenient, you can restart the device from the settings menu. Go to Settings > System > Power > System Restart > Restart. (If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.).
  3. Reinstall the channel: After your Roku device restarts, visit the Roku Channel Store and add the channel again.

I also carried out the below action, issue still persisted.

  • Go to the home screen. Make sure you're on the home menu item.
  • Press the home button 5 times
  • Press up once
  • Press rewind twice
  • Press fast forward twice
  • The screen will freeze for up to 30 seconds, then the device will reboot.

I also carried out a factory reset still not solution

Kindly assist as I have not been able to use the Roku device since I purchased it.

    Sosamatic-

If you are using a Roku device plugged into into the USB port on the TV for power, try powering from house power via a USB power adapter -- one may have been supplied with the Roku**.

The ports on many televisions only supply 0.5 amp or less, which is not enough to power a Roku reliably. It may appear to start up okay, but when it runs into something that requires more power than the TV's USB port can provide, something's got to give. In many cases this results in shutting down the stream you are viewing and exiting back to the Roku home screen.

If this is a new problem, possibly an update to either the Roku operating software or to some channel app software is using a little more power than in the past. If you were just barely scraping by before, this might push you over the edge.

** If your Roku didn't come with an adapter, or if you don't have a Roku adapter handy, a USB power adapter you have from another device should work as long as the fine print on it says it outputs at least 1 amp (1000 milliamps). More than 1 amp is okay, the Roku will only draw what it needs.

I'm having the same issue, tried the same steps as well. Apps crash immediately, makes this thing useless.

      Welcome Damianism,

We appreciate you for letting us know that you are having trouble with your applications crashing back to the Roku home screen. We would like to investigate the issue further.

Please provide us with the following:

      • Does it happen from all apps?
      • Does it happen during streaming or when you launch the app?
      • When did this issue start?

In the meantime, we recommend you try the following:

      Check Wi-Fi Connection:

      1. Press Home on your Roku remote
      2. Scroll and select Settings
      3. Select Network
      4. Select Check connection

Restart your Roku device by going to: Settings > Select System > Select Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step > Select System restart.

For more help, please visit our Roku support article: Issues playing shows and movies on your Roku device.

      Please keep us posted.

      Cheers,
      Roku Community Team

I'm also having the same issue. I have done all the steps listed above from other users. And still nothing has changed.   My device is useless now. My P101x is plugged into the wall. I changed my HDMI cord.
