They are the same thing, but you will have to pay for it again. If you already have an account with them. You want to get the regular app that does not say on the Roku Channel. Go to your search, and search for Paramount Plus. It should come up.

I agree with Kristin2 comment. Some channels on Roku can be accessed through a standalone channel or by subscribing directly through The Roku Channel. If you decide to subscribe directly through The Roku Channel, it's a separate paid subscription, and you won't be able to use any existing credentials.
Just wanted to drop the differences of the channel itself.
Standalone channel- which you can access if you have an existing account.
Channel via The Roku Channel- which cannot be accessed using an existing account but needs a separate subscription through Roku pay.

That is stupid and you should be able to add it to Roku no matter how it's paid.
Aldi0831 No it's not. If you subscribe through Roku, you view it through The Roku Channel. If you subscribe directly with Paramount, you view it through their standalone app. Roku doesn't need to support logging in with a Paramount account and Paramount doesn't need to support logging in with a Roku account. So your accounts can't be accessed by the other company. That's actually a valuable security feature, keeping access locked out from the other company.
I've to agree. It's stupid! I don't care how they all get along, because that is between them. I, however, having paid for the device to view it and the provider to have an account should then have the freedom to view it through my account on any device that allows for their product to be shown.
Having 2 separate accounts for the same service is asinine. I don't care what anyone says. Roku should allow the account if you have one. Not doing so creates an annoyance for the buyer and if every channel I subscribe to is going to be like that, I'd stop using Roku. 🤷♂️

If you subscribe through Roku, that might be listed in your subscriptions on your user account page (https://my.roku.com). If you subscribe via some other method, we can't help you here. If you subscribe directly through Paramount, you should be able to find out from them.
I don't want to pay for 2 subscriptions, so disappointed by this answer. I guess I will continue to watch it on my computer. I wish I had known this before , I would never have gotten Roku/
jhayes44 If you subscribe to Paramount+ directly from them, you can stream it on any device, including a Roku. You do NOT need to subscribe through Roku for any service available on a Roku. They simply offer it as a convenience and on occasion might offer a better price. But any subscription through Roku can only be viewed on a Roku device.
It's no different than subscribing to a service through another service, such as Prime Video. Anything you subscribe to through Amazon can only be viewed through Prime Video.
So I just paid for a yeaerly Paramount Plus subscription but it won't open the channel on my roku, it just says to

brucitybruce, there are two ways to access Paramount+. If you search for "Paramount" in the "Streaming Store" you'll see two icons - one with "on RokuChannel" and one without. Try both of them.
