[Under investigation] Roku Live TV Channel Crashing

Hey everyone,

We've received reports about a crashing issue on the Roku Live TV Channel, and our team is currently looking into it.

Status Update 8/26: Under investigation

To help us look closer, please share the following details if you're experiencing this issue:

  • Roku device model, Device ID, Serial Number, and Software version (Go to Settings > System > About)
  • Tracker ID (Press Home 5 times, then Back 5 times right after the crash)
  • Are you seeing this issue on streaming apps (like Hulu, Netflix, etc.) or only on OTA antenna channels?

Thanks for your help, we’ll share more updates as we learn more!

  • Model 3840R - Streaming Stick

    Serial number X02600POAUSL

    Software version 14.6

    Device ID S1GH352OAUSL

    Tracker ID SL-344-327

I click on streaming app Britbox and all I see is a purple screen that says RokuChannel in white letters. I have a subscription and it was working fine yesterday. The Roku Channel and Hoopla also seem frozen. Netflix seems okay, but I don't subscribe to that one.

  • My Roku TV (Roku 75r6a5r) will freeze and then restart when I click the Roku Live TV app.  Anyone else experiencing this? Can’t watch anything.

I have two other Roku TVs in my house and those two are not experiencing this issue. I have done a factory and system reset. All TVs are on the same WiFi network. WiFi signal is not an issue.

this all started on Tuesday. Software is updated.

I deleted the Live TV Guide app and reinstalled it but live tv guide still freezes and crashes and reboots the tv.

Live TV/Roku Channel streams are not working on my TCL Roku TV (55R615). I select the channel, it displays a black screen for a few seconds and then bounces me back to the menu. Help!

      SW Version 14.6 build 4.9914-30

EDIT: this behavior is inconsistent, some channels work and some do not. There’s no pattern to it, it seems to be whatever channel I want to watch doesn’t work.

Try unplugging your Roku stick/4K from the back of TV or unplug it from wall. If it's a Roku stick unplug from back of TV wait few plug back in then push the black button on the stick so its not flashing white. If flashing white pair the Roku remote with the TV again by opening your battery compartment and pushing/holding that tiny black button next to batteries. The TV should then respond with updating. It's a hard reboot. See if that works.

My Roku TV 55R6A5R is doing this as well, but within the Hulu app. I don’t know exactly when the problem began because I was on vacation for two weeks and came back to this issue. If I select anything to watch whether live, not live or stored in My Stuff, I get kicked right back to my tv’s Home Screen. The Hulu Live tv menu won’t even open without kicking me out.
