  • I prefer to have only the basics on my home screen list. I hide everything but Home, Search, Streaming Store and Settings. Suddenly every single day, Daily Trivia unhides itself on my home screen and I have to manually go into Settings to turn it off. Granted Roku has lately been pelting me with unwanted additions a couple times a week, but this is really getting old. How do I make it stop forever? Please, I need my sanity.

+1 here as well. I too like a "clean" Home Screen, with only the minimum necessary buttons showing.

I have a Roku on all of my TVs. The thing is, I have a couple TVs which don't get used quite as often, so whenever I do turn them on, I have a dozen things on my Home Screen I don't care about and have to go manually remove.

To Roku Support: Don't bother asking us for software version, model number, etc. You know that you don't need it for this, because this is a global platform "feature" that you do with ALL of your products and software versions; a "feature" which needs to go away.

Instead of wasting our time gathering info about individual devices, please, just tell the developers we hate this and at least want a simple checkbox in the settings to disable new menu items. It's not hard to do. They can easily do it. And we very much need it. Or we WILL jump ship.

Is it worth having your loyal customers ditch your platform because you all are forcing things down our throats? There are plenty of other "streambox" options now. Roku used to be the one with the most apps by a longshot; now, even the cheapest TVs have most of the same streaming apps built-in. So please, show your most loyal users that Roku actually listens to and cares about them. We are the ones who keep coming back, so don't shoo us away by forcing us to look at a menu option we JUST removed the night before because we didn't care about it then either.

Got hit twice today.  Had to block 'daily trivia' for about the thousandth time this morning.  Then, afternoon, they put 'nba finals' in my home screen.  This just never stops with this company!

Same. But newsflash. Roku's priority is bending over and spreading cheeks for sponsors like Disney+, Sling, etc. so they get $$$ for letting them push their unwanted baloney on us. It's not about their users' experience and what they want... it never has been and it never will be. I guarantee you that whoever is sponsoring the Daily Trivia is paying Roku for exposure to their user base. We are a captive audience, so Roku could care less what we want. Don't look for it to change. We are already inundated with advertisements plastered everywhere.

The last time things kept showing up after hiding, they did actually listen because I stopped getting several of them once I hid them, plus the stupid 'row' of things they had for a while quit. So there is a balance between pissing off the consumer and catering to the corporate greed.

  • Yes logged in just for this, daily trivia back again and the last couple of weeks have had to shut off items in the menu.

Thanks, RokuMaryEF. Your news made my day a tiny bit better. I'll wait a few days to see if this issue is truly resolved. If not, I'll let you know.

I have a few more questions. How did this happen? Why did Roku barge into our homes to mess around with our stuff? Will it happen again? Does Roku understand why this issue damages trust (and Roku profits)?

I'd enjoy talking with you about these and many other questions. Roku could be so much better.
