Re: [Solved] Backdrops and Photostreams - app removed

I just walked into a room that has a TV left on so the Roku went to screensaver. The screensaver should be my Roku Photo Streams. I went to settings, theme, screensaver and Photo Streams was still selected. When I selected it though and then tried "Go to app" it comes up "This channel is no longer available. Visit the Roku Channel Store to discover more entertainment. For more details, visit go.roku.com/channel removed"

The Photo Streams screensaver was up and working a couple hours ago so this is very new.  O new updates.or anything on the TV I first noticed this on. Why remove such a great channel?

    Same here. I hate it! I do NOT want to see "roku city"!  I want my photo streams slideshow of my chosen photos without having to connect it to a back up cloud.  Fix it roku!

      What's odd is that if I go to my account management at the website, all the albums that were linked from Google Photos are still there. So the setup process has not been killed off,  Perhaps they are not retiring the photo features, after all  Maybe this has something to do with the ongoing OS 14.5 update.

        Also having this issue. It was just working this afternoon! My little kids love seeing all of our family pictures throughout the day. Now both backdrops and photo streams say that the app has been removed.

      Hopefully it's not true and it's just some weird glitch thing. I've had an issue with it not working for a day or so here and there in the past but it came back. It doesn't seem like there's even a similar alternative option. I'm like you though, I'd MUCH rather watch my chosen photos than any of the stuff they give me.

    Still on with tech support. They are now understanding that there is an issue. But they don't know what is causing the problem. I have performed their troubleshooting and reported the case number issue using their technique of click on home 5 times and the back button 5 times which creates an issue ID.  This is the response I received once I provided them with the issue ID:

     

    "I've escalated your case to our Engineering team to review, and you can expect that once we've fixed the issue, your device will update on its own, so there's no need to follow up. This may take some time, but rest assured that your issue will be investigated as quickly as possible. We may reach out to you if our Engineers need more information, so please keep an eye on your email."

      Hey everyone!

      Thanks for sharing the issue with the photostream! We want to dig into this a bit more. Could you send us the following:

      • A picture of the error code.
      • Your device info/OS version (go to Settings > System > About).
      • Tracker and GC (hit Home 5 times, then Back 5 times).

        I already provided the Tracker Issue ID information to a tech support specialist who stated this: 

        From Tech support: I've escalated your case to our Engineering team to review, and you can expect that once we've fixed the issue, your device will update on its own, so there's no need to follow up. This may take some time, but rest assured that your issue will be investigated as quickly as possible. We may reach out to you if our Engineers need more information, so please keep an eye on your email.

    I have a bunch of family photos on Photo Streams. I'm upset; I use it while I'm cleaning during the day. It's soothing to watch the pictures change while listening to music and cleaning. I hope this doesn't last.
