Using Roku Soundbar as Bluetooth speaker for Amazon Echo Dot
I attempted to pair my Echo Dot and Roku soundbar via Bluetooth for playback of Amazon music, but neither the Roku or Echo Dot find each other when scanning for available devices. I have the soundbar linked to the Echo for voice activated commands with the TV on, but I'm looking to use it as a simple Bluetooth speaker for music when the TV is off. Currently I play music from the Echo through a small Sony portable Bluetooth speaker. I want the soundbar to replace the Sony for more room filling sound. Does the soundbar not support basic Bluetooth connection with the Echo?16KViews0likes5CommentsCan I use Streambar with TV Without ARC or S/PDIF
My father is hard of hearing and his TV's speakers are rear-firing so he always has to increase the volume in order to hear anything. I want to get him a soundbar but his TV is so old that it doesn't have either ARC or S/PDIF, nor is it a smart TV. It does, however, have an orange RCA jack labeled "Digital Audio Out" (coaxial), along with traditional red and white. Will the streambar work with his TV, and if so, which type of cable and/or extra hardware would he need?Solved10KViews0likes13CommentsHDCP Error with Roku Soundbar
Within the second day of installing the Roku soundbar we started getting the HDCP Error message. I followed the instructions to properly install the soundbar. I used all the cables that came with the soundbar. I followed the steps to fix the issue, but only seems to be a temporary fix, because the error message will return a few days later. I just recently changed the HDMI cable to one that I previously had. Seemed to be working fine and then the error message came up again. This never happened with any of our previous Roku devices, which were Roku Premier devices. Is anybody experiencing this issue with their Soundbar. I am on the verge of returning it. Roku soundbar purchased in late November. After using successfully for about two weeks, I started having several different issues with the soundbar - which I am also using to stream in addition to sound. The soundbar will often distort the screen and there is nothing to do but unplug for many hours and then try again. I also perform a system restart daily to try to avoid but it only works for a day or two. In addition, it will freeze the screen a lot during watching. When I switch to my Roku TV to stream I do not have this freezing issue. My wifi performs well, it isn't the issue. I've tried many different HDMI cables so that isn't the issue either. I also had the roku wireless speakers but they drop the connection so much I've decided to scrap them. I have tried to contact support directly but the submission form doesn't actually allow submission. Anyone else had any success with the soundbar while also using it to stream?6.5KViews1like13CommentsRoku wireless speaker stopped working on one side
My speakers are 11 months old (I purchased two sets for two different TVs). My left speaker on one quit working, it's dead and no power to it. I traded the power cord out from the other speaker and it's still dead. Both speakers are wall mounted and free from damage. In total I own three sets of these and I'm fearful the other may die and they are only warrantied for the first 30 days.Solved4.8KViews0likes16CommentsRoku Streambar sound cutting out while using HDMI
Hello, I, like many others here, am incredibly frustrated with the constant audio cutouts (randomly, at least 2-3 times per hour, sometimes 2-3 times every 5 min) while using HDMI sources connected to the TV. This issue is beyond annoying — it's a total "show stopper". (no audio cutout observed when using roku OS, although not using it a lot). I've gone through all the usual "troubleshooting" steps: swapping HDMI cables, power cycling the Streambar, etc., yet the problem still persists. When I use another soundbar from a different brand with the same TV and cables, it works perfectly — no issues, for years. What is even more frustrating is reading this issue has been ongoing for years with no real solution. Roku’s typical response of "we will contact you separately" is just lip service — it does little for the community at large, the expected purpose of this site. If this doesn’t get fixed very soon, I’ll be returning this product while I’m still within the return window. It's a shame because when it does work, the bar offers great value, but this constant audio dropout is unacceptable. I have a projector that hangs above the seating area with my screen across the room. I am trying to switch from my traditional wired 5.1 surround setup with speaker wire running everywhere to a nice clean wireless solution. I now have the streambar, wireless speakers, and wireless bass. I understand that the preferred location for the streambar is across the room, directly below the projector screen. Unfortunately, this means I am running a long, ugly HDMI cable from the streambar across the room and up the wall to the projector. This leaves me short of my goal of going fully wireless 5.1. I still have my Ulta LT I purchased less than a year ago. An exquisite solution would be to use the Ultra as the video streamer and wirelessly play the 5.1 audio through the streambar. I believe all the hardware is in place to do this, but based on my research, it is impossible to set it up this way in the settings. I could use the streambar as Bluetooth speakers for the Ultra using the private listening function, but based on my tests, I would have to select the streambar as the audio out each time, and it would only be stereo, not 5.1. So my question is in two parts: 1. Am I missing something? What options am I not considering? 2. If this is all true, I would like this to be considered a feature request. I think it would fill a space in the market and encourage the purchase of more Roku hardware. All of the speaker systems I see in this price range presume that the soundbar will be directly below a TV and thus can easily be hardwired. Supporting full wireless 5.1 would set Roku apart. Does anyone else think this would be awesome?2.9KViews0likes0CommentsEver since the last update, private listening stopped working.
I have used private listening on my roku devices (Roku Express 4K 3940RW, and Hisense TV G211X) just fine for a long time now. I have never once had an issue with it, and love it so much. After the last app update, it no longer works at all. There is either no audio, or the audio keeps playing from the TV, and it keeps going from saying private listening on, then turning it off again. Here are the things I have tried: I made sure my volume was up Turned devices on and off again, and unplugged and plugged them Turn my phone (android) on and off again Cleared app cache Cleared the app data Force closed and re opened the app Tried different wired headphones Tried switching from wired to blutooth headphones Checked for updates on the rokus Checked if my phone was missing any permissions Made sure to turn on nearby share, location, and blutooth Double checked my app was up to date. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app Looked up any help topics that might be relevant I still can't get it to work. Does anyone have any other suggestions? As far as I can tell, the last update just broke the feature. I miss watching TV while my wife is asleep.2.5KViews0likes5Comments7.1.x A Dream Never Coming True?
For years I rocked 5.1 channel surround sound and always wanted to get to the next level. I moved into a home and the room had the perfect 7.1 layout opportunity. Built the 7.1 system Onkyo RZ50 receiver to do the work Newest Samsung TV Roku Ultra Spent DAYS with Onkyo support (who are amazing btw) and finally figured out I was using eARC CEC on TV and the receiver. Functioned flawlessly and that's what the ** ARC is for right? Well... Samsung TVs max out at DD 5.1 atmos. ? So any 7.1 signal you try to play throws it off and the TV defaults to PCM stereo. So I found myself only playing 5.1 and neglecting the back speakers. We turned off eARC, ran everything to the receiver, and dummy displayed the TV. Now Roku Ultra is main source and is in Pass-through mode. PROBLEM: I can't find any legit 7.1 sources on YouTube, Netflix, or Prime Video. I was told only Apple TV device and Blue Rays are the only way to get true 7.1. How the ** is it 2023 and all Samsung TVs cant process past 5.1, no passthrough AND eARC option, and I can't find a true 7.1.x source? Can Roku Ultra process or pass true 7.1? Doesn't list that spec but Apple prod does... and I am not an Apple person. Now I just have my far back surrounds mimicing atmos instead just to put them to use. Ugh. Is 5.1 ATMOS the best and I screwed up??2.5KViews0likes1Comment
