Roku Streambar sound cutting out while using HDMI

Hello, I, like many others here, am incredibly frustrated with the constant audio cutouts (randomly, at least 2-3 times per hour, sometimes 2-3 times every 5 min) while using HDMI sources connected to the TV. This issue is beyond annoying — it's a total "show stopper". (no audio cutout observed when using roku OS, although not using it a lot). I've gone through all the usual "troubleshooting" steps: swapping HDMI cables, power cycling the Streambar, etc., yet the problem still persists. When I use another soundbar from a different brand with the same TV and cables, it works perfectly — no issues, for years. What is even more frustrating is reading this issue has been ongoing for years with no real solution. Roku’s typical response of "we will contact you separately" is just lip service — it does little for the community at large, the expected purpose of this site. If this doesn’t get fixed very soon, I’ll be returning this product while I’m still within the return window. It's a shame because when it does work, the bar offers great value, but this constant audio dropout is unacceptable. My model 9102EU | SW 13.1.4.1515 | device ID 2E1288XXXXXX

Audio was great. Now it's too quiet with no Expanded Audio

I am experiencing a problem recently with the audio from my Roku Streambar Pro and two Roku TV Wireless Speakers I have had the Roku Streambar Pro for some time and added the two back speakers in May. I connected the Roku Streambar Pro using ARC and the sound was great. While moving some furniture, I unplugged the rear speakers. After plugging them back in, the sound isn’t so hot. Now, I must turn the TV volume up twice as loud to hear anything well and it's the only chance of hearing the dialogue. And the Expanded Audio setting is grayed out on every streaming app apart from Amazon Music. That music app is the only one that sounds amazing with audio that fills the room. I tried pairing the speakers again, but that hasn’t helped. I’ve also tried every audio setting, but no dice. Boosting the dialogue obviously makes voices louder, but the quality of the sound is lousy with that setting. Can you please tell me how to get things back to what they once were and also offer suggestions for getting Expanded Audio to activate on other apps?

[Smart Soundbar] Warbly sound when playing stereo music over Bluetooth

Ever since I got this soundbar, whenever I play stereo music through Bluetooth, it has weird phasing issues that make the track sound warbly. I haven't been able to figure out exactly how the sound is getting altered. When I mix the audio to mono through the accessibility settings on my phone, it works just fine, but I'd like to have stereo audio. I have found when I switch the Bluetooth codec from AAC to SBC (developer settings on Android), it can stream Bluetooth audio just fine. However, I have to do this every time I connect my phone, and it seems odd that the smart soundbar doesn't support the higher quality codec properly.

Roku Streambar SE "Video Playback Error (-5) unsupported audio format" Retry/Cancel"

I am having the same issue! Trying to use a Streambar SE on both an Emerson and Vizio TV. They are connected by HDMI cable only (not the optical cable because neither tv have this port). The error ["Video Playback Error (-5) unsupported audio format" Retry/Cancel] occurs only when I am using the app REAL CHOICE TV, and when I try to access a channel anything other than local channels. The fix I was offered by my ISP was to change the Audio setting to STEREO, but there is no such setting on the Streambar SE. I have a Roku Streaming Stick+ and the fix DID work on this device on an identical Emerson TV. As a presumably more advanced piece of tech than the Stick+, how do I get the fix to apply to the Streambar SE? I've invested $200 in these devices and would love to be able to fully use them.

Stream bar sound problem while watching YouTube

I have a Roku stream bar and have had problems pretty much every day with it starting out with no sound on youtube videos. It is not muted. I have tried toggling the mute function, but the sound still does not come up. I need to exit youtube and then reload it. After that, the sound works. I have not noticed this problem in any other place, but I do spend probably 80 pct of my time in youtube. This happens once or twice a day.

Roku Streambar displaying 'Out of range'

Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've had mine for 3 years without problems. I used it to watch TV and have the sound through the Streambar. The following day the Streambar starts with the ROKU jumping and then goes off and shows "out of range" and then then nothing but the flashing orange light. I've reset it numerous times and can get it as far as the wireless connection. It shows it is about to start the software download and then goes "out of range" and the orange light flashing and again nothing..Any help would be appreciated.

    Giving up on Roku Streambar

After almost two years of ownership, we're giving up on the Roku Streambar due to the many issues we have with it that we just couldn't fix or get help for. Model 9102CA, Serial number YL00A3134043, Software version 13.0.0 build 4312-95, Device ID 2C115A134043 #1 issue (by far) is the audio issue. The sound mix on most shows isn't being properly rendered by the Roku (especially on the show Saturday Night Live), and this is an issue on every sound setting available. In scenes where there is music, the sound level of the music is far below what was originally intended, and the vocals and other sounds are far higher. Or to be more precise, the vocal and sounds are at the proper level, but the music volume is pushed far below them to the point where there is more than 20dB difference between the two. This happens whether sound leveling is on or off, and it happens in every sound setting ("Dialogue", "Movie", "Music", "Night", and "Standard"). Nothing we've tried has ever corrected this issue, it has nothing to do with the speech enhancement feature (that I know of), and it makes watching shows and movies annoying to watch because whenever music occurs, the overall volume of just the music is pushed far below the dialogue, sound effects, and foley sounds to the point it's noticeably distracting. The music almost disappears, like it's being hyper-compressed. When the music ends, the sound goes back to semi-normal. It's almost like there are entire channels of sound missing or severely reduced in volume for periods of time. It's definitely a mix compatibility issue between shows' mixes and the Roku Streambar ability to decode them. I don't know if it's just our unit, or all Streambars. The issue causes frustration and loss of enjoyment when watching shows. It's the exact opposite issue most people have with the music and sound effects being so loud, they overpower the dialogue. #2 issue: No physical buttons on the device itself. Cannot tell you how many times I've needed to turn the sound down for whatever reason (phone calls, someone else trying to talk to me, etc), but I'm much closer to the Roku than the remote, and cannot do so because there are no physical buttons on the device. This causes me to have to travel across the room to look for the remote just to do something I should have been able to do on the device itself. This may not be an issue for others, but it's a big issue for me, and this scenario is never going away, so I've decided that buttonless TV devices cannot fit into my lifestyle, and will never be purchased by me again. In cases where I need to turn down or mute the sound, 8/10 times I'm closer to the Roku than the remote. I need physical volume buttons. #3 issue: Screen goes dim, and there's an overlay that won't go away when pausing a show, but mostly just when using Crave app. Have already investigated this with both Roku and Crave, and it seems like it's more of a Crave app issue, but only when used with Roku Streambar. Apple TV box does not do this with Crave. #4 issue: Overall sound levels rise and fall randomly, but only occasionally, and only on certain channels. #5 issue: Can't fast forward or rewind shows on the Roku channel #6 issue: Bluetooth headset wouldn't auto-connect for a very long time, but just started doing so, so may not be an issue anymore. Cannot connect more than one Bluetooth headset at a time. There are several other minor issues as well. These issues are insurmountable to the point we need to investigate switching to another brand of sound bar.

Audio Disappearing Issue on Roku Streambar & Wireless Bass

I hope you're all doing well. I'm reaching out to share a specific issue I've been experiencing with my Roku Streambar & Wireless Bass Streaming Media Player with Voice, and I'm curious if anyone else has encountered a similar problem. After a few minutes of playing content on my Roku Streambar, the audio abruptly disappears. This issue occurs consistently, and I've noticed it across various streaming apps and channels. The audio loss seems to happen randomly during playback. No error messages or warnings are displayed before or after the audio disappears. If anyone has encountered a similar audio disappearing issue or has insights on potential solutions, I would greatly appreciate your input. regards, EHallPass
