Generally, the 14.40 error is an authentication/password issue. Try using a different password (no special characters), or using no password (open network) for troubleshooting purposes.
Some 14.40 errors have also been seen with cable ISP routers. Verify that under the 2.4ghz Wireless Settings in your router, you have Wireless Mode or Protocol set to b/g/n.
You may have to contact the ISP in order to have these changes made for you if you cannot do so at the router admin portal or through an associated mobile app for the router.
