Roku does support casting using some more open standards like MiraCast, but not all phones, especially Android running relatively stock Android, support that. The licensing costs would probably resulting in having to charge more just to buy a Roku device. Ads would probably not really cover it, especially as the ad market these days has become so fractured and spread out that ad revenue is generally going DOWN.
