Disney Plus gets stuck in HDR10

I have a Roku 4801 and an HDR projector. I have the "always show HDR" option set to no. In Amazon prime it works correctly. When I watch an HDR movie it switches to HDR. And when I stop the movie it switches back to SDR.

But on Disney Plus it does not work that way. If I play thr Mandalorian it switches to HDR. But when I stop the Mandalorian it doesn't switch back to SDR. It gets stuck in HDR. I end up having to reboot the Roku to fix it (or I can toggle the always show hdr to yes and then back to no again, but it's easier to just reboot it).

Has anyone seen this behavior?

Welcome to the Roku Community, Adam8!

Thanks for flagging this issue to us. We would like to help you sort this out so we can get you back on streaming in no time.

Have you tried this quick fix below?

    Here's how:

    1. Remove the channel: Highlight the channel tile on your home screen and press Star to open the Options menu. Select Remove channel and confirm.
    2. Restart your Roku device: Go to Settings > System > Power > System restart > Restart Now.
    3. Re-install the channel: After your Roku device restarts, visit the Roku Streaming Store and add the channel again.

Please let us know if this helps.

Thanks, I tried that but it didn't help. Then I tried removing my Denon receiver from the HDMI chain and that fixed it.  I don't know why the Denon is affecting only Disney Plus when it comes to HDR/SDR switching, but I'll play with settings on the Denon to see if I can alleviate the problem.

Thanks for keeping in touch, Adam8!

We're glad you're back on track. Since we have isolated the issue coming from the receiver, we would suggest reaching out directly to their support team for further troubleshooting.

There may be specific settings preventing the resolution from switching. Thus, you might need to seek assistance from them to determine the problem.

Please let us know if you have other concerns so we can help you further.

        Best,
        Emman
