Roku TV is not displaying anything. Screen is black

My TV will only display the TCL logo when I turn it on for only a split second, but afterwards nothing ever again. I need this fixed. I tried resetting with the remote control, I tried unplugging for ten minutes, and nothing works. I highly doubt it’s the backlight since I’m even getting any display even for split seconds. What the heck is going on?

  • Kassie,

Thank you for posting in the Roku Community!

We appreciate you contacting us about the black screen issue you are experiencing with your TCL Roku TV and your efforts in trying some troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem. We understand how frustrating this situation can be, and we are here to provide you with the assistance you need.

Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

    1. Check the Basics:

      • Power Supply: Ensure the TV is plugged in securely and the power outlet is working.
      • Cable Connections: Verify that all cables (power, HDMI, etc.) are firmly connected to both the TV and your source device (e.g., cable box, game console).
      • Input Source: Make sure your TV is set to the correct input source (e.g., HDMI 1, HDMI 2, AV).
    2. Wake Up Mode:

      • Some TVs have a "wake-up" mode. To wake the TV up, press any button on the remote or the TV itself.
    3. HDMI-CEC:

      • Ensure HDMI-CEC is enabled on your TV. This feature allows devices connected to the TV to control each other. Check your TV's settings for the HDMI-CEC option and enable it.
    4. Restart Your TV:

      • Turn off your TV, wait a few moments, then turn it back on.
      • Or, unplug the TV from the power source, wait 10-15 seconds, then plug it back in.
    5. Factory Reset:

      • As a last resort, you can try performing a factory reset. Please note that this will erase all settings and data on your TV. Refer to your TV's user manual for specific instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,
    Arjiemar

You can tell if it's the backlight by shining a bright light on it.  If you see any image, the backlight isn't working.  Do you hear the normal menu sounds when you use the remote?

One of the tips I looked up suggested I do that, but when I tried it I didn’t see anything. It was all black no matter where I looked.

And yes. The audio is working when I use the remote, but there’s still no display.
