Several times over the last few weeks, my home screen, with my favorite streaming apps, has been randomly scrambled. Today, for instance, Live TV, ESPN,and Fubo (none of which I use) moved up, replacing AppleTv, YouTube, and SiriusXM. Very odd. How can we make that not happen?
Go to Settings->Home screen->App Order and make sure it's set to "Manual".
I do not have an "App Order" in Settings->Home screen.
Any other options for solving this issue? When I turn on my TV or go to my home page, I want the order back to the way it was before this last update completely messed things up, displaying things I have no interest in and burying even my TV connections which previously came up on top. Roku should not have done this.
This forced update that reconfigures the home page was a very bad idea. It will be the reason I never purchase a Roku Smart TV or device ever again. It is actually the second time Roku has done something like this in an update too.
General rules of release updates:
- Never force a change to a user home page. Add a manual option in the settings for templates.
- Add a button on the home page to "try the new look" and let a user decide if they want to change it or stay with their original template. This is how you measure user sentiment. If they like it, they'll switch to the new "look". If they don't want to switch - then you know your users did not like it.
