Re: Can't screen mirror from Windows 10 laptop to Roku Streaming Stick+

Out of all the various posts that I read and the different solutions that I tried this was the only one. I had to toggle off and on the internet WiFi Connection to get it to work. Each time I started the connection n it would connect to the TV and then it would kickback to the system settings screen after initially connecting to the pairing screen and then freeze for a while. This was truly annoying and frustrating until I read this tip and applied it. Then it worked.

I have the later ROKU TV which is a 65" Hisene

I have a Roku Ultra 4640 and am able to mirror my Windows 10 desktop to it.  However, the Miracast connection almost always fails on the first try.  In order to get it to connect, I have to toggle my PC's wifi off and then back on.  It will usually then work, but sometimes more attempts at connecting may be necessary.  I should note that my PC is in a different room than my Roku so there is no line of sight to the Roku.  That could be the reason why establishing the initial connection can be problematic for me.

In the past, after having successfully mirrored to the Roku, the mirrored desktop would freeze or the connection would drop after a while, and there would frequently be audio problems.  To try to obtain a more stable connection, I made some changes to my wireless adapter's advanced settings.  Basically, I changed the settings so the 2.4ghz band would be preferred, a 20mhz wide channel would be used (to avoid interference with a neighboring wireless node on the same channel) and throughput booster was enabled.  Doing so seemed to provided a more stable connection.

However, I noticed the connection would still freeze occasionally when I was using a bluetooth device.  Using a different bluetooth adapter eliminated that remaining interference issue.  Again, I'm dealing with a no line of sight setup, so that could why some of the changes I made worked for me.  It's definitely taken quite a bit of time for me to establish a stable connection on my Roku Ultra.  It sounds like if I had a Roku 3, it might have been much easier.

I believe the Windows 10 computer has to be connected via wireless. My wired desktops do not show any remote screens available, while my wireless laptop shows everything on my network.

Re: Can't screen mirror from Windows 10 laptop to Roku

This is the first time I could connect in 3 days.  I just turned of "firewall" in my McAfee Protection and was able to connect.  More to come.

Thank you very much

And it worked again. To clarify, I have to reset my Roku network connection--basically disconnect and then reconnect by entering the network password. Then screen mirroring works again!

Re: Can't screen mirror from Windows 10 laptop to Roku Streaming Stick+

I have 2 Roku Smart TV's and 2 laptops. For some time I was able to connect both laptops to one or both TV's and display content from my Dell laptop to the TV. Recently, I tried to connect and it would not connect. I tried it on both computers and both TV's. It's strange that it once was working and now it's not. I have made sure all my drivers on the laptop are up to date. I am wondering if Roku has ran an update causing Windows 10 to no longer connect. This is frustrating because I have a subscription to HBO MAX, and as of right now HBO MAX and ROKU have not reached an agreement. Therefore I'm not able to get a the full range a movies due to this. However, I can log in on my laptop and get the full content. I'd love to be able to show the movie and display on to the TV from the laptop. The TV shows up a a device to connect to, but it just won't connect. Frustrating.
