Build 1158 doesn't fix the "black bar" issue I'm having using Chaneru.

Any solution for the black bar issue? I have recoded some videos using 264 codec but they still do not display properly.

Is this serious flaw in the Roku software even being looked at and/or is there a fix in the offing ?? I have been very patient about this but I believe that some sort of progress report is warranted. The problem exists across the spectrum of channels from Twit.TV to my home videos through Chaneru. Thank you.

I second this ^^^. I've been waiting for weeks for the fix to this.

I to have been interested in this issue. In my case it's
not bad, just need to learn the "proper" was to encode
the videos. But even with 8 x 1.9Ghz AMD64 opteron
cores, H.264 encoding is perhaps 4 times longer!

Found something bizzare yesterday. Tried another
encode but forcing one Handbrake parameter,
specifically adding "--strict-anamorphic", (with the
CLI version of Handbrake).

That got me very close to proper aspect ratio. It
was still off, streched vertically. It had no black bars
on the left or right, but the top and bottom were too
narrow, (for this wide screen movie). This implies that
Roku might be doing the correct thing but encoders
like Handbrake and it's defaults may not.

When time permits I'll play with it some more, (and
with a shorter video!).

If you have sample public links that exhibit bad aspect ratios... "squished video" or "incorrect black bars", please post the link to the sticky post as we are looking into the issue and need different types of content to ensure we are covering all cases.

Most of these problems have been fixed, and we appreciate your help in tracking down the remaining issues.
