Seeking Help! Chrome IP Reaching Roku Channel. How?
Question and help!
Over the past 2 to 3 days I've been receiving
traffic to our Roku channel from this Chrome IP
address (40.0.2214.111). It's screwing up our
channel analytics. Using Google Analytics to
track our channel stats.
Has anyone else experience the same flux of
traffic like this? Also, any idea on how to fix
this without having to create a new tracker
code?
Thanks in advance for your insight and help.

40.0.2214.111 isn't an IP address. It looks more like a browser version to me.
And how do you get traffic to a Roku channel? Are you talking about the server that your channel uses? If so, why is it accepting traffic from something that isn't a Roku?
Maybe they like your channel a lot.

belltown - That would be nice should it be the case. LOL!
It is an awesome channel. 😄
I'm not sure what's happening. When I look at my analytics
I see my sources: Roku, Chrome and Safari.
If you Google the address it is tied to a Google Chrome App,
which is why I'm wondering how they are hitting my Roku
channel. They are massing up my stats because they are
bouncing. Our channel's bounce has awesome, so this has
to be resolved.
I made the attempt to block it yesterday and seems as if
the traffic persist.

You still need to specify. Do you have Google analytics built into your bright script? Or built into your hosting server?
If it's your sever what sort of setup do you have? Maybe your just getting crawlers from Google or something of the sort, those might be specified as such though. I don't remember, been a while since I used analytics.

I've also have had a strange occurrence this week. I'll be looking at my google analytics when suddenly 25 users suddenly appear all with the link from simple-share-buttons.com. Of course they all register as a bounce. You're right it screws up your stats.
It happened 3 nights this week, coincidentally right in front of me. What does this mean?
I double checked my browser OS same thing - Chrome - 40.0.2214.111 also Safari -8.0

Then how are you getting analytics from the Roku channel? It has to be built in somewhere.

Re: Seeking Help! Chrome IP Reaching Roku Channel. How?
Just a side note ( since we're not making progress without more info ) here's a really good article about Google Analytics.
http://tristandenyer.com/why-i-removed- ... y-website/
I was 1 step away from including analytics into my brightscript until I read this, in particularly the section "The data can affect your goals". I realized the data would serve no purpose in this situation other than to enflame my ego and waste my time 😛 .
Not criticizing you for having analytics (I used to put them on everything too), just something to think about.
