After 5 years I'm circling back to this, now that my game is starting to push the limit on the save file size in spite of my best efforts!
I've tested bloating the registry size by various means until no longer saves stuff, and my first results are that it was reliable, even after reboots, with sizes up to about 225k before compression. After that, it no longer retained the new information (but still had the info UP TO the 225k)
This was only testing with one model (Roku 4k TV 7000x) and also just one set of data, but in this case the compression was about 14 to 1.
I might go and test several other Roku models, but maybe someone knows whether that would make any difference - perhaps the exact compression method is the same across all models with the same firmware, or maybe the compression method hasn't changed ever regardless?
