Roku telnet connection no longer works - even after hardware restarts

Was rolling along nicely, debugging via eclipse. Suddenly got this message :

Console connection is already in use.

I tried to connect via telnet also, on 8080 and 8085 - it just hangs there.
I've verified there are no connectivity issues my side, and that telnet is working.
I then did the following:

  1. Killed eclipse

  2. Killed all java

  3. Reset Roku (from menu)

  4. Restarted Roku (unplugged)

  5. Restarted mac

I simply can no longer telnet into the roku
Admin console on http is still there.

Can anyone help? I'm now totally stuck and unable to develop.

[EDIT] Uninstalled and reinstalled developer software. still no dice.

Re: Roku telnet connection no longer works - even after hardware restarts

Okay PICNIC..

Yes - it had crashed pretty hard, so I needed all the restarts; but on my final round of tests, I got the ip slightly wrong (!)

Thanks all the same.

Re: Roku telnet connection no longer works - even after hardware restarts

Sometimes (between connection drops, on the next day etc) Roku may get confused thinking it still has telnet client on 8085/8080 - and step #3 alone "fixes" that. But yes, have to have the correct box IP after that (troubleshooting step, try to ping it).
