ReKey Problem
After receiving Patrick's email last week regarding Splash images, I went to repackage our channel. I have every flavor of the Roku 2, but it seems that the Roku 2 HD in my office has a bad HD port. So, I dug in my desk, plugged in an old Roku 1, enabled the developer mode, telnet in to the box, ran genkey... and nothing. It's been blank for a little over 30 minutes.
I do have a ROKU 2 SD (in my sons room) that I can try when I get home. Is that a better option?

Re: ReKey Problem
Are you telnetting into port 8080?
Also, if you're updating an existing channel, you should be using the same key you used for packaging that channel in the past (using the rekey option on the Utilities page), not generating a new key. Otherwise, existing users will lose any data that's stored in the registry (like resume points and watched status).

Re: ReKey Problem
I am having a similar problem I need to solve. Creating a Lite version of a previous app for our clients. I received the new Roku 3 to test it on and I need to enable the Packager. When I try and run the telnet it just kicks back "command not found" :? It's been about 5 months since I've updated the previous channel and have a new machine now so don't have the old rekey info.
Any help??

Re: ReKey Problem
"Command not found" sounds like a message from your computer telling you that you have no telnet program. What OS are you running on your computer?

Re: ReKey Problem
BTW, as TheEndless pointed out earlier in this thread, if you want the two apps to be able to share data, you should use the same key for both. To do that, you would rekey the new box, and you don't need to connect via telnet at all.

I'm on OSX 10.8. Thinking telnet might not be enabled. Thoughts on getting it to work from a Mac? I can try from a PC too

Re: ReKey Problem
Ok, so on my PC I can access it but now it goes nowhere. It seems the console isn't loading. I'm in the telnet and it has a header of numbers and letters but nothing else. The SDK doesn't give any more steps.
edit: nevermind was running it as keygen not genkey once in there. All good now!! 😄
