In K-12 schools, sites like flickr, YouTube etc. are blocked at the desktop for CIPA compliance. A ROKU would be a good solution in the classroom since IT staff could allow access to blocked sites using MAC address filtering to allow the ROKU to bypass the filtering system, and it would allow the teacher to control the material that is shown to a class. In addition, IT staff can use a PIN so only IT has the privilege to add or remove channels.
I would like to suggest that ROKU also add an optional PIN for the Settings area. This would prevent students and teachers from changing display settings, seeing the account email address, and MAC addresses.
Thanks,
John
