Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

If you use the same Roku account, it should just download the same channels you had.

I think the original private channel is still there, but Roku changed their link format. Try:
https://my.roku.com/account/add?channel=mymedia

You can also try:
https://my.roku.com/account/add?channel=mymediabeta

To be honest, I've forgotten what the difference is, if any, but I have full control of the second one.

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

What the hell happened? Yesterday, the channel was fine, but today it's gone. Not even in the home screen. I've been using this for years (the dev channel), and other than having to enter the IP address once in a while, it's been flawless!!. I noticed that my Roku 3 box updated today. Did they wipe out the dev channel? That never happened before. If they did, I'll switch to another box besides Roku. That's just chicken s**t!! It's like they formatted a drive and wiped it out!! I'm pissed!!!!

Funny, I guess you can't say h-e double hockey sticks without it magically changing to flower.

Working okay for me, still. Perhaps try adding it again, with the link just a few posts above this one.

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

I think el wubo's original channel may have been removed? Maybe they're trying to clean up old channels with inactive developer accounts? I really have no idea, but try this one:
https://my.roku.com/account/add?channel=mymediabeta

Yeah, I tried that, but it goes to a message:
"THIS IS A NON-CERTIFIED CHANNEL. Roku requires all channels to abide by Roku’s terms and conditions, and to distribute only legal content. Roku does not test or review non-certified channels. You acknowledge you are accessing a non-certified channel that may include content that is offensive or inappropriate for some audiences. Moreover, if Roku determines that this channel violates copyright, contains illegal content, or otherwise violates Roku’s terms and conditions, then ROKU MAY REMOVE THIS CHANNEL WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE, AND YOUR ACCOUNT MAY BE BLOCKED FROM ADDING ANY OTHER NON-CERTIFIED CHANNELS."
After hitting OK, it takes you to another screen that says to add channel (which I did), but it didn't add it.
Funny, but when you have a problem with a channel, Roku always responds with "We only sell the hardware, and have no control over the software". The Roku box is like buying a PC, they should not be telling you what to load on YOUR box. I may start looking for other set-top options if this is how they treat you. Imagine Microsoft deleting stuff they don't want you to have on your PC through a Windows update.

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

They are getting more and more Draconian.  They started adding that message when you add any private channel a little while ago.  They've even gone to the extreme measure of disabling side-loading on some units they've deemed to have violated their TOS.  Private channels used to be what made Roku great, but it's as if they want to eliminate them.

Back to the problem at hand.  Have you checked for updates or rebooted since you added the channel?  If all else fails, I can send you a zip that you can side-load (assuming it hasn't been disabled).

P.S. - Microsoft does remove software with their updates.  I've had to reload Spider Solitaire on my mother's computer that came with it (and Windows 8.0) multiple times when a Windows 10 update removed it.

Thanks for the help renojim. Yeah, the channel finally loaded after a couple of tries (and system updates). But I can't get it to work. I already had Python 2.6.6 and Pil. Now, everytime I try to open MyMedia, it goes to a link account screen, which leads to installing Python and Pil. I even removed both, reinstalled both, but it still says registration is incomplete. Also, the instructions say to run mymedia.bat file from the installer folder, but there's only mymedia.exe, which is what I used in the past. This is getting frustrating.

Never mind- my bad. I wasn't using MyMedia-Beta, I was using MyMedia. And I downloaded the new Netguy-Avocado thing and ran mymedia.bat, and the registration completed. Everything is working now. If this wasn't the best media server for Roku, I would be using another simpler one. Too many steps to get it working, but when it works - it works. And organizes my music and video collection the way I want it (over 800 cd rips to mp3, and over 500 vids encoded as mp4).
Thanks for the help.
