Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

The first question is are you using the MyMedia from the Channel Store by the PlayOn douche bags, or the original referred to by this thread?

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

I have a really nagging issue. My roku 3 was working fine with MyMedia. All movies were streaming fine.

Suddenly it all stopped. I don't know what went wrong. I also checked the firewalls. Then I tried to reconfigure the whole setup but it doesn't go beyond:

warning: this server has not completed rendezvous
http://0.0.0.0:8001/

The config file looks correct, with all the ip address, regid and port. http://192.168.1.110:8001 but roku just doesn't seem to be able to connect to the server on my laptop. I get that "Failed to autoconfigure server. You're on your own" error.

I tried the MM2.zip someone posted, still no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated !

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

When you browse to http://192.168.1.110:8001/feed from another computer, do you see the (incorrectly titled) MyMusic Feed page with the links to your music, videos, etc?

Can't register anymore

Recently I re-added the Private channel Mymedia (for reasons I won't go into detail) on my ROKU XD.Both on this and my new ROKU 3, it gets stuck on the linking screen after you add the registration number. Is his site down, or am I doing something wrong? I like this media player so much better as it's much lighter than plex and it worked smoothly on my Lubuntu Linux system

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

The site used is http://rokumm.appspot.com/ and it appears to be working. Can you bypass the registration (which I never really liked)? I know I added that option to v2.0, but you may have v1.

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

OK-Perhaps I do have an older version-I went through the whole process like I saw in another forum, and retried the registration and it worked. Also, fumbling around with re-trying registration codes, I was able to get it running on both Rokus. Thanks!

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

Actually I think I have version 2 (netguy204-roku_media_server-ExtremeAvocado-47-gb78f4a6.zip) but I'm not sure how I would have done this without the registration process. In any case, I'm glad it is working

My Media - Streaming videos with subs and 5.1

I searched and read through many of the pages here but got lazy and thought I'd ask for a final summation on this subject.
What video format(s), and audio (AAC,MP3,DTS,2 channel or surround) can be streamed from PC to MyMedia? Can it included embedded subs or even a seperate identically names srt file?
I'm helping a friend get going with his media center and wanted to see if this would be an option for both music and video. I know the music side is the best I've found, but I don't use it for movies, have USB harddrive for those.
Thanks (and may be the first to offer up Merry Christmas).

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

It should handle any Video/Audio formats that Roku supports, but I don't have a good way to test it. I think all of my videos use AAC audio. Surround sound and DTS require something that can decode them and until recently I haven't had anything that could (I'm still not sure I do, but I did just get a new TV).

Separate SRT files are supported; they just have to have the same name and be in the same folder as the video file with a .srt extension. I've never tried SRTs embedded in an MKV file, so I don't if that works or not.

Just make sure you get the v2.0 server files linked to somewhere in this thread and use the v2.0 private channel. I should have mentioned it when N2PTF brought it up, but the 'netguy-...' stuff doesn't include the v2.0 server. I never did get around to updating it on github.

And Merry Christmas to you!

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

I tried several files I already use, via hdd on my oppo bluray. None worked. I did download a test file from another roku usb thread and it worked. I'll do more experimenting and report findings.
So far I've tried some mkv files with and without subtitles embedded or seperate srt file. Tried mp4 with same. Can play some via roku media player usb.
Ripping Caddyshack now to mp4 and its mono, no subs. One suggestion was to use "web" setting to place file info early in video instead of end.
Ho ho ho

***Update***
Just tried a small test file that works on the ruku usb player, its mkv with embedded subtitles, works fine. Tried with MyMedia and it wouldn't even see the file. This was only a 30mb file so eliminated the larger file issue (and it error-ed saying the older was empty anyway). Tried a small home rendered mp4, which mymedia did see, but it would instantly go back to file title. This was only about 10mb. So far having zero luck finding what will play as far as a template for future rips. Once the mp4 of caddyshack finishes I'll give that a try, as Vidcoder setting for "web optimized" was used (Vidcoder being the new GUI for Handbrake).
