Ah. Currently the Roku only support HTTP streaming, so DLNA streaming won't work (nor SMB, nor NFS), regardless of media format.

Is it intended that MKV will be usable via something other than the USB channel at a later point?

It is our intention to stream MKV over http at some point in the future. We do not have a date when this feature would be available at this time.

Thanks. That makes the difference between keeping a project involving files of that type on the back burner, or figuring out a whole different solution.

Oh c'mon really? How about at least an idea ... such as 2nd quarter 2011, or 3rd quarter 2011 or even 2012 if that's the best guess you have 😃
