Live channel build question.
One of the channels I am working on work like a live channel.
Is anyone using wowza with s3 to do a playlist of vidoes in an xml as a live channel? Would like some input on how to set this up.
As another option, I have a playlist of s3 videos in an xml file and then a viewer can click to watch it play as live. But when they exit the channel and come back to it later of course it plays the same video again. I would like it to start at a different part of the playlist to simulate a live channel. It's in the process of being worked on to see what can be done to make it play at different locations within the xml playlist. I was wondering if anyone else has tried this option or perhaps have some ideas on how best to setup a simulated live channel?
I'm open to suggestions on what might be the best option to get a live channel going using an xml playlist. Wowza looks like a good option once I can figure out how to set it up with s3 but thinking the expense of running wowza 24/7 might be much for a new channel.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Re: Live channel build question.
If you haven't found anything like this already, I would recommend following this blog post http://chris.kehayias.com/2011/07/10/complete-guide-to-streaming-live-video-to-roku-part-1/. The demo app he builds shows you how to have multiple categories with multiple streams, as for switching things around automatically, I am not sure, but this could get you off to a good start.
I can't comment on the Cost of hosting on Amazon. We self host Wowza and paid once for the server and the Wowza perpetual license (they do a non-profit discount if you ask them about it).

Re: Live channel build question.
Hi,
I have seen Chris' post before for using FMLE. Thank you for reminding me of it.
I have actually thought about setting up a live stream using wowza FMLE with the amazon instance but would require a computer to run 24/7 using files from the drive. But I suppose it would be limited to what my bandwidth could handle. I don't want the expense of a major CDN so looking at all of the options.
The non-profit license is an idea for one of my channels. I''ll have to check into that. For the for profit channel, seeking the easiest way to get a live channel up and going without added expense until this new channel gets up and going.
Thank you.
