Live Feed Overlap Possible with Roku
Is it possible to build/program a channel with the Roku to view a live tv feed below it?
*Be able to view standard tv/cable feed behind transparent Roku channel.
*Client logs into channel like Amaz.Prime to access their data. The site would then stream their data.
*Channel would look similar to a Chyron business channel feel and or Watermark. Kind of like a MS Window that is transparent, except the top bar which would show their data.
Cable set top boxes can do this with their guides streaming over the top of live programs. So I figure it would be a possibility with the Roku. Any input on who can assist, why it is or isn't possible or if I need to look elsewhere would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 🙂

Re: Live Feed Overlap Possible with Roku
Technically possible, but the feed would have to be streamed in a format that could e viewed on a Roku - either HLS or Microsoft Smooth. So essentially you would have to run the feed through a transcoding system (like Plex, PlayOn, a Wowza server, Flash Media Server) either in the cloud or in your living room and then stream it to a player. On the player you would use roVideoPlayer with either roImageCanvas or roScreen to display an overlay on top of the video.
