External Control API determine current app?

With regards to http://sdkdocs.roku.com/display/sdkdoc/ ... trol+Guide
Is there an API method to determine if the user is on the Home screen or inside of one of the apps (i.e. Netflix, Hulu, etc...)

There is no API approved for public distribution at this time.
