Is it possible to have three copies for the same channel in the channel store at the same time? One with a hardware requirement of Roku 1 (basic low end models) at 500kb for the zipped size, one at 700kb for Roku 2, Roku XDS and Roku XR, and one at 20MB for Roku2 XDS?
They would have to be three discrete channels, managed separately, and we'd generally recommend against it. In reality, you might want two, one for legacy and one for roku2. What's the use case? Drop me a line if you have questions.
If we wanted to include a short intro video with the pkg, or extra graphics stored locally inside the package, or extra sounds in the package to speed along navigation through screens without needing to first download files to tmp or pull from a server, then the extra space would be appreciated. ie if you have a roku 2 XDS with a maximum package size of 20mb, then they could hold a variety of icons and sounds and videos and interactive help right there in the pkg which would load faster and update the screen quicker than pulling it all from a server online. I was thinking, if the app could do a version check and then determine which channel revision it should load, that would be great - but the roku won't allow a channel to be installed on it if it exceeds the maximum size for the hardware revision, meaning the version check from inside the channel itself would never be allowed to run.
