With regards to the original question about automation, it might be interesting to look at https://github.com/veeta-tv/jasmine-roku and https://github.com/veeta-tv/node-roku-test. I've played around with it a bit and it looks very promising.

So have you implemented an appium-roku-driver?  Seems the nature of channels has increased substantially and having a GUI automation tool akin to appium/webdriver would make testing much easier than unit testing channel codebase through BrighScript.
