I have a roku streaming player that I travel with for work. I travel to different areas with different hotels. I havent had a problem but on my most recent job I hooked the roku up and the sound is blasting! It hurts my ears its so loud, but the TV volume is on mute and I do not have volume options on my roku remote. How do I go about fixing this? I saw a post in the roku community about someone else with this issue and the roku representative put a link to a separate issue that was not helpful and then "closed" the post. I have tried updating roku, restarting roku, restarting the TV, and messing with the roku volume settings. I'm all out of ideas and hate the idea of needing to buy another streaming stick/player if I can get this to work.
Given that the TV is on mute, then what is producing the sound? ie: where is the sound coming from? An audio system?
Nope, it comes out of the TV. I plug in the HDMI cable associated with the hotels cable and the TV is still muted I put the roku HDMI in the same slot and the TV volume is what I assume to be at 100 and the remote no longer controls the volume at all. Can't be turned down or muted.
