This solution worked for me to power on & off control LG 4K TV and Vizio soundbar (optical cable from TV *out -to- Vizio soundbar optical *in. IR setting worked after running the 'do you still hear music?' steps.

Interesting. Thanks. I will have to poke around on my Samsung. Since I read the Roku remote won't work with a soundbar I didn't try real hard on the LR set.
