I have two TVs that primarily get used when the grandchildren stay over night. They just need to get to YouTube and Netflix.
I just replaced 2 older Rokus with 2 new Roku Express(s). After installation, I realized the remotes no longer turn on or off the TV too.
I did the research and read about some of the models the on/off function is on. What I couldn't find, however, is whether the old enhanced remotes I have can work with the new Express devices.
Should I just toss the old remotes or is there some magic to making them work with the Express boxes?
Thanks.
Thanks for the notes. The Roku Enhanced Voice Remote is not supported for use with this model of Roku device (3930). You can see the supported device models for that remote here: https://www.roku.com/products/accessories/player
This model is compatible with the Roku Simple Remote.
If you are looking for voice search or private listening capabilities, those would be supported via the Roku mobile app. You can use the app as a remote to control your Roku device, as well as perform voice searches and use mobile private listening. Check out more information here:
Thanks,

Even though the express 3930 came with IR remote, it can be paired to wifi-direct remote with tv controls. What are the model numbers of these older enhanced remotes, if they were remotes included with roku older then your express, it won't work on the express, a wifi remote with model of RC-AL2 or RC-AL7 is what you need to get tv controls for the express 3930.
Thanks. Both of the 'old' remotes are model RC-AL2.
I'll see if I can find out how to pair the remotes.
Thanks for your help.
Dave
Did you get to pair the enhanced remote? I can't pair my enhanced remote to my Roku Express 3930R.

Yes, I was able to pair a Roku Voice Remote with the Roku Express (3930X). It wasn't pairing at first. But it worked after putting in fresh batteries. I held down the pairing button in the battery compartment of the remote for about 10 seconds and it started to pair after I released it.
This was a remote that originally came with a Roku Streaming Stick and I had been using it with a Roku 3 (4200X). The model number of the remote is RC-AL2.
I am now resetting the Roku Express to factory default. It got to the Let's get started page and wasn't responding to the remote at first. But after hitting the up and down arrows a couple of times, the remote started the pairing process. So yes it does work.
