Re: [Under Investigation] Roku Device Stuck in Recovery Mode

Jump to solution

Has this been fixed yet? I am still in the same recovery mode loop on my 5 month old Roku TV as seen in the picture showing the manufacture date. I have tried multiple ways to correct it but have had no progress yet. Here is my info below directly from the TV since I cannot get to the settings as noted below being locked into this recovery loop. I've tried the power cycling using the reset button numerous ways, I have updated the TV using both the wireless and USB updating, but still stuck in the recovery loop. Nothing I have found yet has worked. Please advise of a fix soon as this appears to be an ongoing issue across multiple makes of TV's.

Re: TCL TV went into Recovery mode and is stuck in a loop

wow, very poor responses. My model 50S45, serial # X01200RGCEV3 did an auto-update this morning. It then crashed, lost both the audio & video...black screen. I tried softbooting, quick hardware reset, leaving unplugged for several hours. Yeah, nada so off to the factory reset. I was able to get the video back temporarily so I connected to the internet...update failed. Tried a few more times, still failed. Did a direct connect via ethernet...another waste of time

I was able to see the Hardware ID is G135X so I put the update file on a USB and tried the manual update method only to receive the same exact message as the OP..."for a different model". I double checked and even used a different USB drive.  I now have a boat anchor that won't load the update and has a black screen.

I suspect the G135X file is corrupt. 2nd guess, the model number on my unit somehow changed. I wasn't able to see the model # in the limited menu script. Option 3, perhaps the G135X file descriptors are inaccurate. The G135X file description indicates the update is for 50S453 & 50S455...the label on my unit is for a 50S45...I can't tell if it's a xx3 or 5 but the G135X is the correct file according to the on screen display. My 2 cents...any chance of getting this resolved? Please don't bother with the canned responses. Thanx

PS the screen is black except for in recovery mode so don't suggest access of any ROKU menu
