when I turn on tv with roku connected, I get a large Roku logo, then a message saying out of sync.

TV seems to be working well.  Wifi connection appears good.

I've unplugged the roku, restarted, and pushed the small reset button on the remote but still no changes.

Any suggestions?  My roku device is about 7 years old.  Is it time to replace it?

Maybe. What model number is it?

It's actually an older model . It's Model 2720X.

Yes, it would probably be a good idea to replace your old Roku 2. Today's rough equivalent as the mid-range Roku device would be the Roku Express 4k+, and would be a much-improved device. You'd be pleased with the greater performance of today's Roku devices over your model.
