Roku TV, Roku Sounbar, Onkyo TX-NR6100, Sony DVD (no hdmi out) - Volume flashes on screen, disappears, repeats...
My old Sony Elevated Standard AV Receiver needs repair, so it's currently being replaced by a new Onkyo.
When using the AV Receiver for sound, and watching a DVD using the old Sony DVD player (connected via Optical to AV Receiver and to TV via yellow-RCA cord, the Roku TV has the volume flash on and off like three times with 4 sec interval, then about 30 seconds later it does it again... This is too much of a distraction while watching a movie.
When streaming and using the AV Receiver for surround sound, the issue does NOT happen.
When streaming and using the Soundbar for normal but improved sound from the Roku TV, the issue does NOT happen.
The old Sony DVD player has no hdmi outputs.
The new Onkyo Receiver has no component nor 5.1 channel inputs.
I'm considering a cable that converts S-Video from old Sony DVD player to HDMI for insertion into AV Receiver in hopes that helps by preventing the annoyance that has made the use of the DVD player not an option. I have a collection of DVDs that I'd like to watch in surround sound.
The AV Receiver currently only has 1 HDMI cable connected, to the ARC3 HDMI port on the Roku TV.
