I have had my TCL Roku TV for several years and have not had this problem before (or possibly occasionally last year), but consistently now. (I mainly try to use this feature for Christmas music.) This happens when trying to play .mp3 files in Roku Media Player from (a) my Windows 11 desktop PC, set up as a DLNA server; or (b) a USB thumb drive directly inserted in the TV. The RMP successfully finds both media sources; finds the folder with the content; lists the files on the screen; and when I hit OK or Play, goes to "Retrieving" for an extended period.
- If reading from the desktop PC, it shows "retrieving" for a full minute or longer, and then *occasionally* starts to play the media, but then quits after one or two items. It then may either go back to the "Home" screen, or reboot the TV.
- If reading from the USB drive, it always shows "retrieving" for a full minute or longer, and then always restarts the TV. (I then have to reconnect to my home WiFi network before trying anything else.)
The USB drive is 32 GB, FAT32. It is nowhere near full; it contains some 750 .mp3 files, various bit rates up to 256kbps, and nothing else. Exactly the same files are on the PC file folder.
I would expect this to work flawlessly on the USB drive even if, possibly, I am having intermittent problems with the WiFi connection to the PC. Both of these methods *usually* worked until recent months, *using exactly the same .mp3 file collections.* Now they don't.
I already tried a factory reset on the TV, requiring re-setup of my devices and my accounts on it. All other services I am subscribed to (satellite TV, various streaming services) work fine.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
