We bought a house and just moved in. The previous owner left their TCL Roku tv. We bought a remote for it that said it worked on Amazon for this model tv. The remote works... Sometimes. Most of the time though, the remote isnt registering. Or the TV isn't sensitive enough, or it just freezes outright. . We are going nuts trying to make this TV work. Any tips, trick, hint, or advice?

The first thing would be to try new batteries.  Don't assume the ones that came with it are any good.  Next, is it a Roku Voice remote with a microphone button or a TCL remote?  If the latter, it has to have a clear line of sight to the TV.  Can you post a link to the remote?
