Issue with DVD player and getting it connected to our Philips Roku TV

We have a cable with red, yellow and white at both ends to connect to the Roku TV and Sanyo DVD player,   We  plugged it in and cannot get the DVD player to work.   The message we get is "waiting for USB device" however we want to use a DVD.   Please advise on how we can get our DVD player to work with the Philips Roku TV.

    "Waiting for USB device"?  USB shouldn't have anything to do with it.  Have you added the AV input under Settings->TV inputs?  It should add an "AV input" icon to your Home Screen.  You select that to get to the DVD player.
