Is the online supposed to ask me for my information

I bought a Roku TV TV TCL TV and they weren’t able to set it up on the phone so I did it online and I ended up doing it on my phone because it didn’t do it online but before that they went ahead and they asked me for all my information my email my address my everything so is that even legal did I do wrong by giving them information because I don’t think it’s right that they asked for where I lived and all that I could’ve done that myself which I did in the end because they didn’t do it themselves

Who is "them", and how did you find them and contact them? Any website not having a roku.com address is bogus, as is any "Roku" support to a toll free number. There are lots of scam artists out there.
