I believe the Roku remote won't connect with non-Roku wireless (or wired) speakers at all. Well-hidden instructions say to use the remote that came with the speaker - in your case, the same tv remote you've been using. It's a work-around that's not hard to do. However, if you touch the remote's volume or mute buttons, you get this message which hangs in the middle of the screen for ten seconds: "Your tv is set to use external speakers. Adjust the volume on the connected speakers directly". Irritating and so unnecessary.
