So many do NOT want Spanish commercials posted and KUDO'd on other community strings. I have more acquaintances in St Louis that speak Czech or Bosnian than all those who speak Spanish. (I speak only English.) There are Spanish stations. How many English commercials are on them (or Bosnian, Czech, Chinese, etc.)? Why is Roku ignoring all the community complaints about Spanish commercials? I guess because Roku doesn't care. I'm finding alternatives on my TV to get away from this annoyance. Thank you (for ignoring this too, I'm sure).
i really don't want to get involved with this but, I'll throw in my $.02.
1. You actually pay attention to the commercials? I pay as little attention as possible.
2. I have much more important things to be concerned about than any ad I might come across.
3. If I happen to notice an ad in another language, I usually think "well they wasted their money on that as far as I'm concerned.
Just my opinion, You are entitled to feel how you do. However, is an ad language really anything to be that bugged about?

I haven’t cared for the Spanish commercials but you make a really good point actually. Yet I understand where the OP is coming from just bc those commercials tend to be loud so they feel intrusive when you don’t speak the language & can’t understand what they are saying.
it’s interesting to hear that’s happening in other areas because I’m in Texas so I simply assumed I get them a portion of the time due to the large number of Spanish speakers here - even if I personally don’t.

Yes it is....now they've increased to at least one but usually two of them every commercial break...I live in Florida where speaking Spanish is shoved down our throats !! I should not have it FORCED on me in my own home..this is America ! The language is English ! Plain and simple. It's great it doesn't bother you but having to listen to it at every commercial break puts me in an unpleasant mood...I mute them and then end up missing parts of my shows ...looks like my 2 Roku will be on eBay soon it's increasing to where all of them will be in Spanish...Xfinity has my Internet I'm making it a package deal now ! I think Roku has a lot of oversized balls to do this in the first place I hope rest of u get rid of yours get fire TV cable or satellite, YouTube TV, or Hulu live. There are many choices out there !!

The racism and complete lack of historical intelligence in this thread is beyond disgusting. Why is this being tolerated by the moderators?

Why is what being ‘tolerated by the moderators’?
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of speech, which is a fundamental right that is essential to a democratic society. This amendment prohibits Congress from making laws that abridge the freedom of speech, which includes the right to express one’s opinions, beliefs, and ideas without fear of government interference or punishment.
So then what of hate speech? It’s defined as any form of expression through which speakers intend to vilify, humiliate, or incite hatred against a group or a class of persons on the basis of race (in this case). This hasn’t been done here at all. The only thing I’ve read are opinions & comments to which others are entitled.
Yet even hate speech is protected by the First Amendment in the United States, as decided in R.A.V. v. City of St. Paul, (1992) in which the Supreme Court ruled that hate speech is permissible, except in the case of imminent violence.
Hate crimes are overt acts that can include acts of violence against persons or property, violation or deprivation of civil rights, certain "true threats," or acts of intimidation, or conspiracy to commit these crimes. None of this is occurring here.
Your comments don’t even apply to anything that’s been said. If they serve any purpose at all, it seems they exist to start an argument or at the least they are an attempt to show some perceived ethical or moral superiority. Others have simply commented that they’d prefer to not have foreign language commercials on channels that are English speaking. Even if anyone stated that they feel that immigrants should be required to learn English as a prerequisite to living in the US, they’ve only exercised their constitutional right to free speech.
To reiterate, freedom of opinion & expression are cornerstones of human rights & pillars of free & democratic societies. I’m sure that’s why the moderators haven’t involved themselves as no issues exist here to moderate.
Personally I have no real opinion about any of this since it’s a non-issue. The only thing that strikes me is that you seem to enjoy some perceived moral superiority & would, by all appearances seem to really enjoy it if someone would argue with you. Yet there’s no argument here to be had.As I said before, it’s difficult even from reading your signature not to feel that you’re not the most pleasant person since you give strong vibes that you’re ready for an argument. “Not here to socialize”. Really? You have taken apart posts paragraph by paragraph. Your comments on them seem to serve no purpose other than to illicit a response.
“Seriously? Freedom of choice? Controlled? Paranoid much? And who's really spreading the hatred here? Try looking in the mirror. Smh”
“…it would be funny if it weren't so disgusting.”
“If you want respect show some yourself.”
Well, if any of just the few sentences I’ve quoted of yours above are not so-called fighting words, I don’t know what is. Just the same way that you’ve repeatedly advised others to simply utilize the ‘mute’ button, maybe if this topic is so disgusting to you, you shouldn’t continue responding & making certain you get the last word. It’s as if you feel you’ve ‘won the Internet’. There are a plethora of sites where you can find willing opponents with which to argue, especially these days. Yet this one would seem to truly be a site to talk about Roku, ask Roku-related questions & seek appropriate solutions.
It doesn’t seem as you say that you’re “here to help & get help” as “that’s what real life is”. It undoubtedly seems that you’re here to argue.
To repeat something I once read: If you don’t like how I speak, there’s a mute button. Feel free to use it. Or, you could not jump to conclusions and see what I’m really all about over time. 😎😊

"However, is an ad language really anything to be that bugged about?"
Only when you're racist.
Some might not realize that's a form of racism, being bothered by a different culture for ZERO logical reason, but it is.
"I'm hearing a different language so commercials can't program me!"
Are you serious?
You're complaining that you're not being effectively advertised to?
"Waaaaaaa I want my propaganda in English and I want to be programmed and told what to like!"
20 bucks says you're MAGA.
Anyone with a name like "real patriot" is definitely too illiterate and racist to realize that's what makes the country good, it's a place for all kinds of people to look past those things and care for each other because this is our home. I don't think I need to quote the Statue of Liberty, do I?
As of today, 4/3/25 it has been 33 days since Trump made English the official US language. Are you expecting people to learn a language in a month? You probably couldn't finish a book in a month.

It sure the **bleep** is! The fact we even have to see any ad content after purchasing the ROKU device thinking they(Roku) would be able to control or filter out the non english ads is BS. I lost many a nights sleep wondering if I could be a form of racist for not understanding what the ad was selling. As I lay in bed counting the burros leaping over the fence wishing I knew what they were saying in those ads, Then I realized my housekeeper could translate for me, but i could tell that started to annoy her. She was far to busy to help with my illiteracy. My only hope at this point is to ask Hector, our landscaper if he would be willing to esplain. I will ask him next week when he comes to service our lawn. I will keep yall posted on my progress, I dont want to be a racist ! MAGA 2024

it does not make you racist because you speak english and prefer to watch or listen to things in the language you understand.
nobody likes having things shoved down their throats.. that's what creates racist too.. when we're forced in the privacy of our own home on bills we pay.. to have to make tolerances for things that have nothing or no understanding to us.
you paid for your programming.. and you paid for your tv.. you paid the electric that makes all of it work.. you paid for the home it is sitting in.. your money means your right to choose the language it comes across.

gee for someone who didn't want to get involved has an opion, shouldn't be here remarking on things you think are fine.. the rest of us and i can see there's alot of me's out there.. if i wanted spanish on my tv i'd watch the spanish channel.. you dont have to pay attention to the commercials to get annoyed hearing them in spanish.. i speak english only.. having spanish at all on my tv i paid for with hard earned money, should be my choice, should be anyone's choice and it should be something they check in an options box, and not just something that without my want to concent made mandatory to listen to.. this is why even free i hate the roku channel.. many complaints about them.
however, they are the only one that have the series grim.. and it's one of the only series they actually have the full seasons on.. normally roku has 3 seasons out of 8.. which is annoying by it's self.. after this series is done, i guarentee i'll never watch the roku channel again.. but the fact that i didn't have a choice on language irritates the heck out of me.. i live in New York.. no mexico. i expect that if i live in New york and istate i speak english and live in america i freaking for gods sakes get english.. i'm sick to death of foriegn **bleep** getting shoved up my nose in my own house. on my personal tv.. paid with money i do not have.
you however annoy me more at the moment. good for you if you don't mind it.. yay yo, your with the times. we are posting for roku to change what we do not want.. your thought on it has no place here if your fine with it. go compliment them on ratings and stop acting like we're the picky ones.. whichby the way is our right.. we paid 100+ for our tv.. but now, i'm going to go out of my way to give away this tv to someone and buy a non roku tv eso that i have a choice on what i listen to and how i listen to it.
sure channel is free and nobody's making me watch it.. but you know what i already paid for the tv. they offered their channel free of charge for a priviledge of us buying their tv. again they should have given us an option what language we want it in... correct me if i'm wrong but installing the tv for the first time, it asks you your language preference before you ever start watching tv.. and i marked english..
it is no where stated that i wanted bilingual option. or half engish half spanish..

Yes, if one is offended by this and the fact they in the set up reads the language of preference. So yes. I do not mind ads as long as the are in English as this is the way the channel is free.
