TLC GO and ANIMAL PLANET GO stop loading and freeze

I have a stream stick, and when I attempt to start either ANIMAL PLANET GO or TLC GO, both would start to load, and then freeze. They will either then return to the home screen, or the Roku will restart.

I have restarted the Roku, I have removed and readded the apps. I confirmed the latest software.

Any ideas?

Re: TLC GO and ANIMAL PLANET GO stop loading and freeze

Hi, @Toddpop,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

We're happy to help you with your problem with streaming Animal Planet Go and TLC Go. Suppose the issue persists after attempting the troubleshooting steps, and videos from other channels play fine. In that case, we suggest you contact the channel provider's customer support team to report the issue and get help. The channel developers themselves maintain channels on Roku. In this case, an issue within that specific channel likely needs to be addressed with an update from them.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help you.
All the best,
Eunice

Re: TLC GO and ANIMAL PLANET GO stop loading and freeze

@Toddpop-

After removing a channel, best practice is to restart** your Roku to clear its memory cache before reinstalling the channel.   Did you do this?  Without the restart you may not get a clean reinstall.

Depending on your Roku model you'll find the System restart option under either Settings > System > Power or under Settings > System. If you don't have sufficient control to use the menus, or if it is just more convenient, you can also restart by pulling the power plug for a short while, then plugging it back in.

**On a Roku TV with "Fast TV Start" enabled, turning the TV off/on only puts you in/out of a low power standby state, it does NOT give you a complete restart. Use the methods above.

Now, having said that, both TLC and Animal Planet are part of the Warner Bros Discovery family of channels.  This whole WBD group has been having server problems since roughly July 1 2023, so the problem may be at their end, not yours.   List of Warner Bros Discovery brands: https://wbd.com/our-brands/

Re: TLC GO and ANIMAL PLANET GO stop loading and freeze

I have been having the same issue with TLC go.  I have done all of the things too.  My problems began before the July server issues mentioned by another commenter.  I have had the issue for months.  I actually had it working yesterday, but alas, today it is not working.  I have reported it through the setting on the TLC go app, but nothing has happened with that.  Hopefully they will fix the issue sooner than later.

Yeah, I was working with their support team- they came out with a new version of all the apps... they worked for a few days, then stopped again.

It really is frustrating to have to do all this work to make things operate.
