Re: Roku no longer supporting VidAngel

Jump to solution

I am disappointed as well.  I have scoured the Roku webpage and cannot locate a clear place to voice my opinion directly to them, so I'm guessing they do not care to hear or act on their customers desires and wishes, so I will voice mine here.

I want to be able to control the amount of nudity and language in the content that I pay for and view in my home.  This is more than reasonable.  I have invested approximately 10k in Roku supported devices over the years, greatly because VidAngel was available on its platform.

We supported Roku from the get-go...from the very first version of the Roku stick.  I currently have 13 registered roku devices.  Within two weeks, I will replace them all and will never purchase another Roku supported product.

It doesn't matter to me at this point if they add a VidAngel channel in the future, because I do not trust them to not eliminate the availability of VidAngel again in the future, like they just did.  The damage is done and I have no choice but to move on to another solution and support another product personally and outwardly.

Good luck to you all!

I totally agree here I now will be purchasing 7 other devices 4 standalone and 3 to attach to Roku TVs lol.  The whole reason I purchased those TVs.  Wish they would have made the decision about the App Store sooner would have saved us all a lot of headache and giving them money for nothing.    So, as someone mentioned I will be looking to chrome cast or fire tv sticks or any number of competing products and voting with my good lad money.   The only thing hanging around will be the tvs until I purchase OLED ones in the coming year or so and then goodbye Roku forever.   Thanks for the first one that taught me about Plex and VidAngel apps.   Been a loyal customer and referral guy for a long long time.  Now an advocate for the next one I figure out I like for the next decade.   Enjoy your company not just with me anymore and I know I already received your response in email and so you will get mine with a sell of stock and purchase of others products.   After all it is the fairest way may you go the way of the superior Betamax tape.

I just ordered the latest Amazon Firestick on Amazon.  List price was $54.99 but there is a $20 off coupon code.  The code is

UP4KMAX.  So brings cost down to 34.99.

Good price and you can cast your Vidangel to the Firestick.

For Sale, two relatively new Roku TVs, like new but the won’t run my favorite streaming app Vidangel so they are garbage now.

Since when does a TV vendor get to decide how or what I watch?   Very disappointed in this decision.  Hey Roku, ball is in your court to approve the Vidangel app to make your customers happy or be like all the other cable and satellite business out there and just bulldoze your customers.  What ever happened to being a good company?

Looks like Roku and Putin has lost touch with reality.

I bought a Amazon FireStick for $17 from Target 🎯 on Black Friday back in November. Best money I ever spent. It's probably $37 now but go ahead and buy one because there's a 90 day return policy if you don't like it or if the price goes down.

FireStick has the Silk browser built-in. You don't need any apps to watch movies. Just type in xHamster or PornHub or any of the free sites and you will be off and running. Here's an example of Silk browser in action.

I will recycle responsibility with a bonfire in the backyard. Like to see it slow roast over an open flame (tried to use the word b-u-r-n but here again the thought police decided for ME that the word B-U-R-N is UNACCEPTABLE, HAHAHA...) that beautiful black smoke. Don't you? They might not have did it just to VidAngel but the fact that they did it to ANY app is UNACCEPTABLE. It is ALL about the $ and for anyone to think differently is delusional. I am NOT out of line. Just as it is Rokus decision to remove things at their discretion it is also up to me what stocks to purchase or not purchase and at what price I decide to purchase them. The ONLY way to send a company this size a message is in their bottom line. If they do not like it than they can always change their MO. Maybe become MORE customer friendly. I for one am SICK and TIRED of companies deciding what is "best" for me and my family. So when myself and the Ape Army decide to invest in Roku they will listen just like GameStop and AMC did. All is fair in love and war

PLEX is wonderful as a matter of fact besides VidAngel is the ONLY apps I use. I download everything I watch but really enjoyed the ease and convivence of the VidAngel app as it made watching TV with the family an activity again that we could ALL enjoy together. It let us filter out the FILTH that is now standard even on main stream networks like nbc, cbs and abc. But Roku has no cares for my family values or beliefs. But even if roku adds VidAngel back to their channel store DO NOT GO BACK TO THEM. Because if they take it once they WILL take it again. Find parallel alternatives. I will be glad to show anyone how to use PLEX and download ALL TV and Movies FREE and privately with NO repercussion's.

Re: Private Channels Ending - What am I supposed to do?

Jump to solution

Why has VidAngel not been given official channel status? VidAngel was the main reason we went ROKU with everything. Now that private channels have been removed I'm having to cast it to my TV, which I'll continue to do, but it is aggravating. VidAngel is something we cannot stream without. Please add to the store. Supposedly it is easier to cast with Fire TV so guess we will be swapping over eventually if you don't.

And that's why private channels were removed.  What you're advocating is piracy plain and simple.
