The Roku TV won't add the app because it says I already have it. I have it on the device, which I would like to get rid of because it is a piece of garbage and doesn't work well. The remote died after I had the device for 6 months (it's not out of batteries). Apparently this is a common problem. I would like to crush the device with a large rock and just use the apps on the Roku TV. Even when I disconnect the device, it still won't add the app. This is frustrating because the TV was expensive and it would be nice if I could use it the way it is supposed to be used. I pay a lot of money for NBA and ESPN and I can't get them on the TV. If the TV had not been a gift, I would have returned it.
@Snakecharmed I am very confused by your post. What Roku device do you have? ESPN+ and NBA are separate apps. Do both work on your Roku device? Have you restarted the Roku TV? Don't just turn it off go into settings and restart. All apps on one Roku device will appear on all other Roku linked to the same Roku account. Go to settings system about and make sure the TV and device are on the same account.
I have both apps on the device, but I can't get either on the Roku TV. I've had the TV for six months and I've been trying to get the app on there since then off and on. It's been turned off and on many times.
The TV and the device are both on the same account.
@Snakecharmed Do any apps work on the Roku TV? For example does the Roku channel work on the Roku TV?
All the apps that come with the Roku (and I don't understand why ESPN and NBA aren't included in that) work fine, HBO, Disney+, Netflix, etc.
I had to go to the website to add ESPN and NBA. It said I already had them. I did have them on the device and they work fine there, but I can't get them on the Roku TV.
@Snakecharmed Login to your Roku account on a computer or phone. Once logged in scroll down to My Streaming devices & TVs. Make sure your TV is listed. Assuming the TV is listed check that it is NOT in Guest Mode. If it is in guest mode change so it is not in guest mode.
The TV is not listed, so does that mean I have two different accounts? I can only find one when I look through my passwords and it's the device, not the TV.
@Snakecharmed Yes. Was the TV used when you received it? It sounds like you are using some else's account on the TV
On your Roku TV, starting at the Roku home page, go to Settings > System > About.
The email address shown near the top of that page identifies the Roku account to which the TV is linked.
@Snakecharmed I would suggest you do a factory reset of the Roku TV. This will remove the TV from its current Roku account and allow you to set up the TV like it is brand new. When you do this you will lose access to all apps on the Roku TV.
When linked to your Roku account you will have all of the apps shown on your Roku Express device. You will probably have to login to some or all of the apps to use them once you have linked the Roku TV to your account. To do a factory reset of the Roku TV follow these steps:
