Roku Auto Play issues - Roku Channel or System update? How do I stop wasting my data with Roku?

Since update 14.1.4 build 7709 installed on my Roku Ultra model 4802RW, random videos just start playing on their own. I want that turned back off. I have data caps and don't need to waste my data.

Example 1: Power company replaced my meter, when the new meter was connected the TV and Roku turned on and loaded up some R rated movie and started playing it with no interaction at all. This time it was the TUBI app it was on. (Does Roku Channel launch other apps?)

Example 2: Changing inputs on TV back to the Roku, the Roku loaded up Roku Channel and started auto playing anything it wanted. (Has done this multiple times just this morning, almost repeatable, like 9 out of 10 times repeatable)

Disabling Auto Play in Accessibility does nothing to fix this.

I get that Roku wants advertising money, but this is to much to have it auto play all the time now. While I'm, troubleshooting I've now deleted Roku Channel and it seems to have stopped. Maybe the Roku Channel had an update I didn't see.

Re: Roku Auto Play issues - Roku Channel or System update? How do I stop wasting my data with Roku?

Are you using one of the screensavers (like City Stroll) that have little advertisements floating by?  If so, pressing Play/Pause (and possibly OK) on your remote will launch whatever it's advertising.  It's possible that you're inadvertently pressing a button or your Roku device is receiving a stray signal that it's interpreting as one of those buttons.  There's other advertisements on the Home Screen that will do the same thing.

If you're using one of those screensavers, try using another or disabling it.  To rule out the other possibility, make sure you're not pressing any buttons when you pick up the remote and you can go as far as covering the 4802 with a box so there's no way any IR signal can reach it.

Using the fish aquarium screensaver, same as before the update.

Example 1, there was no human interaction, no one in the room, i could see it happen from the doorway outside. so no inadvertently hitting any buttons. suppose a ghost maybe done it.

Example 2: only home button on Roku remote was pressed, or only input selection on TV.
