They were a little vague over there on the Apple+ website, but the promo code page has a little bit more info regarding the 3 month free offer. https://www.apple.com/promo/
From reading the Best Buy site regarding this offer, https://www.bestbuy.com/site/conditional-offers/apple-tv-gwp-offer/pcmcat1635269624718.c?id=pcmcat16..., looks like you need to create a Apple ID and place a payment method in your account. Then apply the promo code to your Apple ID. You would then login to the Apple+ channel/app on your Roku device using your Apple ID credentials.
At least that is my understanding of it.
You may want to contact Apple+ if still having issues getting the promo to work. https://support.apple.com/contact Sounded like it would automatically be applied to the Apple ID and apply anywhere the Apple ID is used.
Look carefully at the terms also. You will be charged 6.99 after the free trial. Also, if you cancel the free trial early, you will lose access to the remaining term of the free trial. In other words, cancel on day 89 of the free trial if you want the full benefit of the trial.
