It does appear the only Roku app for CNN is the one that requires a TV provider, such as a cable or satellite company. There are streaming providers that can offer the same thing. such as Fubo, YouTube TV or Sling. Right now those are the only way to get access to services that require a TV provider.
By the way, from what I can find with an online search, CNN Go was discontinued in March 2022. It changed to CNN Plus, and now even that one appears to be gone. When I clicked the link for CNN Plus, it just took me to the main CNN web site.
