Yup - just checked my 3820EU and it was updated ... and both iPlayer and Sounds now work again.
Hi everyone,
Thanks for your patience while this issue was being investigated.
We would recommend checking for a channel update by selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button > Check for updates.
Once the channel is updated, try seeing if you able to access the channel again.
Please keep us posted what you find out.
Happy Streaming!

- Gordon19504 years agoReel RookieThanks for the suggestion. I have checked with the supported device list on the BBC iplayer website and my device is definitely classed as being supported. In view of this I have raised this issue with the BBC, but not holding my breath for a reply!

- io19014 years agoBinge WatcherSeems to have done the trick. Thanks to Roku for getting this fix pushed through so quickly.
- malc_p4 years agoReel RookieDitto, just checked this morning (06:45) and it's now working. At least someone seems to have been on the ball last night!
- Gordon19504 years agoReel RookieBBC iplayer and BBC sounds have stopped working on my 3920 Roku Premier with the error code 02056 message. This occurred sometime between 16th June and 4th July. All remedial actions shown on this forum have been taken, in precisely the order listed, all without success. Two different iplayer accounts, both of which work on other devices have been tried without success. if it is if any interest my device is running software version 11.0.0 build 4193-91. Gordon
- atc980924 years agoCommunity Streaming ExpertGordon1950 You might confirm with the BBC that the 3920 is a supported Roku player. Some users have reported that devices that once worked were considered unsupported, and BBC basically "broke" them. I don't know where they maintain their supported device list, but there might be a web page somewhere.
- Gordon19504 years agoReel RookieI have received the following from the BBC on 16th July: ‘Dear Audience Member
Thanks for getting in contact with BBC iPlayer Support to report that you have been experiencing some trouble with iPlayer on your Roku device.
We really appreciate you bringing this our attention.
Roku have now released an update that should fix this issue for you and allow you to access iPlayer as expected. Thanks again for getting in touch. Kind Regards’i have checked for updates and restarted the system, but so far no new software from Roku. Anyone got an idea how long they usually take to issue an update?
- atc980924 years agoCommunity Streaming ExpertNew and updated channels are reviewed before being published in the Channel Store. What that involves, I have no idea. I don't think I've ever seen a Roku update of any kind over a weekend, so today might be the first potential day for an updated channel release. And I don't believe the BBC worded that information quite accurately. Roku doesn't release updates for channels they did not build, which is virtually all of them. The channel provider submits a new version, Roku reviews it and then publishes the updated channel. Perhaps that's simply the differences between the British and American English ways of talking, as there certainly are differences. :D
- Gcooksey4 years agoNewbieHi. My Roku bar won't allow bbc iplayer content to load even after multiple updates, restarts, updates, restarts and even more restarts. I can load the channel, and sign in to BBC, but can't open any content. The error code states that the issue is with the roku app.
- atc980924 years agoCommunity Streaming ExpertGcooksey does the BBC list the Roku Soundbar as a supported device? The BBC only supports a limited number of Roku devices, and their channel will not work on an unsupported device. If it is supported, then yes there's an issue with the app/channel, and for that you need to contact the BBC. They created the channel and provide the support for it.
- Lainey824 years agoNewbieIs anybody else still having problems with this? Despite being told that it was fixed? I haven't been able to watch iPlayer through my Roku since May, despite multiple box resets, update checks etc. It just keeps giving me the same error. I can't speak to Roku, BBC don't wanna know and I'm just not sure where to go jow.
- Lainey824 years agoNewbieIt's a Premiere. I have 2 one is 3920X and the other says 3900X. Interestingly, I have just gone through the same resets and update attempts on my 3900x and now that works fine. Guess my 3920x is going to sit in a cupboard just "in case" thank you for your help!
- Vulcan1954 years agoBinge WatcherI had the 02056 error on my Roku 3920X for several days and then one fine day it magically resolved itself. Roku Firmware 4193-91.
Yesterday. I decided to replace it with the 3941X since it supports 802.11ac band. The Roku firmware is 4193-CR. And Now the iPlayer App gives me the same 02056 error! Like before any and all iPlayer app content gives this error! Grrr! Tried all the tricks listed on this thread. No luckCh 4 and Ch 5 apps work flawlessly. So, frustrating!
- RokuDanny-R4 years agoRetired ModeratorThanks for the post. If you are experiencing the same error code across multiple Roku device, it would indicate that it's the channel that is most likely the issue rather than the device itself. For more information about that channel's error codes and functionality, you'll want to contact the channel provider support directly to inquire further. Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel provider themselves. Thanks,
 Danny
- Vulcan1954 years agoBinge WatcherRokuDanny, The issue is only with 3941X Roku. It has firmware 11.0 4193-CR. Is there an update coming out soon?
- Sarah-Lou4 years agoNewbieI have and continue to have the same problem, even today.
- Pricehedgehog4 years agoBinge WatcherSame issue Can’t get iPlayer on 3930EU build 11.0.0 and 4193-EU iplayer won’t update further than 32 tried resetting, deleting, turning off router, resetting, deleting app, updating app, factory reset, every single time get error 02056 code was working a few days earlier. bought device earlier this year and same model exactly is on Roku website but not listed on BBC iPlayer supported devices Frankly wasted an entire day on this !

Pricehedgehog wrote:bought device earlier this year and same model exactly is on Roku website but not listed on BBC iPlayer supported devices The BBC is very strict on what players will work with their channel. Roku has no control over this. You have to purchase a Roku that's on the BBC support devices list.
- Pricehedgehog4 years agoBinge WatcherReally….as I said it’s on the Roku main uk site with a nice picture of iplayer on the box and as I said it was working last week So trying to understand why the reply really
- bouncybrian4 years agoBinge WatcherI have said it before, but ill repeat it, the issue isn't Roku's, its with the BBC. If the device is on the BBC's supported devices, and you think you have a reportable issue, please try reporting it on https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/help/contact-iplayer-help/#/Need%20more%20help? Otherwise if it isn't on their list of supportable devices, then its going to be hit and miss (more likely miss) that your device will work. Yours is a 3930EU-GB, however they only list the 3930UK which does feel a bit odd, but is reason enough to use the link i have supplied, as you wont receive any support here.
- Pricehedgehog4 years agoBinge WatcherI do understand it’s not on their supported list i bought it in April 22 is my point and Roku do have a responsibility here if it’s for sale on their uk website same version…. And doesn’t work
- bouncybrian4 years agoBinge WatcherI would disagree, the responsibility is with the maintainer of the channel which in this case is the BBC. Would you complain to google or apple if an app developer didn't support or provide an app for your particular device? No you wouldn't, and you would receive no support from Google or Apple regarding it. If you have an issue, please use the link i provided as you won't receive support here for the issue, only a number of users telling you the same thing.
- Pricehedgehog4 years agoBinge WatcherSeriously I don’t need a lecture …. but I have every right to feel Roku should have a responsibility as well as the BBC as Roku are claiming it works and it don’t so they are misleading people regardless even if it’s the BBCs issue to support it So they could pick up there big Roku phone and fix it if it affects their new devices don’t ya think? actually don’t reply ….
- bouncybrian4 years agoBinge WatcherHave you picked up your big BBC support phone, and reported an issue? If you haven't, don't expect a resolution as you are venting in the wrong place, to people who are trying to point you to the right place.
