Many channel owners have written their channel apps to use the enhanced capabilities of newer Roku units and won't run on older less capable ones.   You can add channels to your Roku account, but they will only install on Roku devices that are capable of running them.

If you're still on Roku 3.1 (the current 9.4 release is currently being rolled out) you have an old unit that has been unsupported for quite a while and is incapable of receiving Roku updates.  There are likely many newer channels that will not run on it.

  • Roku Streaming Stick +, 3810X, Ser YH0059427035, wifi - Samsung UN55ES6100
  • Roku Streaming Stick, 3600X, Ser 5S56D8240827, wifi - JVC EM37T
  • TCL Roku TV 43S425/C107X, Ser X000001R60KV, wifi
